The President of the Government of the Canary Islands visits Envera's job training programs

Canary Islands | October 11, 2018

The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, visited this Wednesday the headquarters of Envera in Tenerife to learn first-hand about the Agro-Envera program, a training project in alternation with employment in which 15 young people with disabilities over 30 years of age participate. Upon his arrival, the president was received by the director of the Canary Employment Service, Sergio Alonso; its deputy director of training; Dunnia Rodríguez; the mayor of the City Council of Tacoronte, Álvaro Agustín Dávila; the president of Envera, José Antonio Quintero; and the director of the Envera delegation in Tenerife, Elisabeth Martín.

Agro-Envera is a project promoted by Envera and subsidized by the Canary Islands Employment Service (SCE) which is developed in the municipality of Tacoronte and aims to enable students to obtain a professional certificate that favors their employability in the agricultural sector.

Isolda María García, head of the Agro-Envera program, explained to the attendees the training given to the students for their professional training, which includes an important part of internships carried out on the "Green Map" farm.

Fernando Clavijo greeted the students and teachers, who explained their routine and the activities they carry out, such as the collection of fruits and vegetables that are donated to the Red Cross for the most disadvantaged families of the island. They also presented him with a floral gift prepared by themselves.

This program, which began in February of this year and will last for a total of 11 months, is financed with 265,800 euros for the training of beneficiaries and the hiring of teaching staff.

In 1982 Envera started its activity in Tenerife and since 1992 has maintained its Special Employment Center, which provides stable and supported employment for 15 people with intellectual disabilities, with job placement as its main objective through the placement agency in the Canary Islands and the implementation of training programs.
