Tenerife : November 14, 2023

The General Director of Disability of the Government of the Canary Islands, Dulce María Gutiérrez, has received representatives of Envera in a working meeting held last Thursday with the aim of making known the different services (employment, training and occupational center) that Envera offers to people with disabilities both in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, islands with which this NGO has maintained a close relationship since the launching of its headquarters 40 years ago.

Care for children with disabilities or developmental disorders in the Canary Islands is an issue that the regional government has among its priorities, so both parties welcomed the launch of a new early care center by Envera, a service that the social entity has been providing for more than three decades in Madrid with a center that is a reference at regional level.

Envera has also requested the collaboration of the Canary Islands government to provide new spaces to expand and diversify the employment training currently offered in Tenerife to people with disabilities.

Currently in the Canary Islands, Envera provides stable employment to more than fifty people with disabilities, especially intellectual disabilities, in its two special employment centers, presiding over the regional Association of CEE of social economy of the Canary Islands (ARCEESCAN); serves 35 people in its occupational center (Gran Canaria); and trains each year more than 150 students in certificates of professionalism with which it promotes their insertion in the labor market.

Globally, Envera serves 5,000 people with disabilities and their families every year in its early care services, neurodevelopment for children and adolescents, training, job placement services, occupational and day centers, residences and guardianship; it employs more than 900 of them in its special employment centers and trains more than 300 athletes (it belongs to Special Olympics); it has the support of 250 volunteers and has more than 500 collaborating entities. The following are patrons of its FundaciĂłn Tutelar: Iberia, Airbus, Unisys and Hilario Alfaro (Madrid Foro Empresarial). It has centers in Madrid, Colmenar Viejo (Madrid), Barcelona, Malaga, Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and Inclusion Points in Madrid, Pozuelo and El Prat. Among its awards, it has the Gold Medal of the City Council of Colmenar, the Justice and Disability Award of the General Council of the Judiciary, the ABC Solidarity Award 2023, the National Award 2019 for Excellence in Labor Inclusion of People with Intellectual Disabilities and the Sustainable Company 2018 in the Influentials Awards of El Confidencial.

This non-profit organization was founded 45 years ago by Iberia employees, fathers and mothers of people with intellectual disabilities, and its transparency is accredited by FundaciĂłn Lealtad. It directs the Madrid Foro Empresarial CSR Board and works on Corporate Social Responsibility as a strategic element of competitiveness and differential value in the customer experience. Envera has an impact on 11 of the 17 SDGs of the UN's 2030 Agenda.
